Lori Bruce has accepted the offer for the position of Student Services Director at the Carlisle School. Superintendent Jim O’Shea said, “We have offered the position to Lori Bruce (she was the candidate who had the site visit) and she has accepted. We are in the process of ironing out the details at which point it will be presented to the School Committee at their next meeting.”

After two days of interviews, Bruce was chosen from a group of five semi-finalists as the only finalist. At the same time, the position was reposted until May 15 to increase the pool of applicants, which was reviewed the Search Committee. Bruce spent the day visiting the Carlisle School on Monday, May 13, meeting with teachers, staff, students and parents. During the visit she told parents she planned to visit classrooms every day.

“There was a consensus of support among the Search Committee, though the responsibility for the decision lay with the superintendent and School Committee,” said O’Shea. “I am pleased with the outcome of the search, and I am looking forward to Lori joining us in July.”

Bruce has been a Principal/Special Education Administrator at the Milestones Day School for more than eight years. Before she joined Milestones, she served as Director of Child Care at Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 1997 to 2008. Bruce holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Teaching from Lesley University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Boston University.

Current Student Services Director Will Verbits has submitted his resignation, effective at the end of the school year, July 1. ∆
